NASA Langley Seeks Partners for Innovation District

NASA Langley Research Center is taking a significant step toward expanding its innovation ecosystem with the release of a Request for Information (RFI) seeking private-sector interest in developing portions of its Hampton campus.

The RFI invites developers, research organizations, higher education institutions, and industry partners to explore opportunities to lease and develop approximately 325 acres across seven sites at NASA Langley. Potential uses include research and development facilities, laboratories, office space, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, conference facilities, and other amenities that complement NASA's mission. The agency plans to leverage public-private partnerships through Enhanced Use Leases and Space Act Agreements, allowing private investment while supporting NASA's long-term research objectives. An Industry Day is scheduled for September 22nd to provide additional information and connect prospective partners with NASA leadership.

For the Virginia Peninsula, this represents much more than a real estate opportunity. It is a chance to build on one of the region's greatest competitive advantages by creating an innovation district where government, industry, academia, and entrepreneurs can collaborate to accelerate aerospace, autonomy, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies. If successful, the initiative could attract new investment, create high-quality jobs, and further establish the Peninsula as a national hub for research and innovation.
