State of the Region

The Virginia Peninsula Chamber proudly hosted the annual State of the Region – Hampton Roads on Friday, October 10th at the Newport News Marriott. Economists from the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy at Old Dominion University presented updates on regional economic trends and analysis.

Dr. Robert M. McNab discussed labor markets, the regional economy, the Port of Virginia, federal spending, and the economic impact of Norfolk International Airport. Dr. Vinod Agarwal spoke on immigration, tourism, the hotel industry, and housing. In a special surprise, Dr. Jim Koch joined as a guest speaker and reflected on 25 years of the State of the Region and its significance to Hampton Roads.
